Welcome to the first (kind of) Athlete Bodywork newsletter. I’m excited to bring you tips, techniques, and strategies to help you grow your skills and your business this year.
Every 2 weeks-ish 😄, I’ll share things you can try with your clients and ideas to help you build a profitable and sustainable practice.
Technique Spotlight: Calf Work Made Simple
You know those tight calves that can feel like rocks? Runners, athletes, or even people who stand all day can come in with calves so stiff they feel stuck. This week, I’m sharing a quick and effective calf release technique to help your clients feel lighter on their feet.

Pro Tip: Start with lighter pressure, especially if the client’s calves are very tight, and adjust as you go.

Business Tip: Start 2025 with SMART Goals
A new year means new goals, right? Whether it’s growing your client list, improving your skills, or finding better work-life balance, setting goals the right way can help you stay on track.
I like to use something called SMART Goal Setting
Let’s take this example: Gain 5 new clients by the end of March.
Here’s how to turn that goal into a SMART goal:
- Specific: Focus on gaining 5 new clients.
- Measurable: Keep track of how many new clients book sessions.
- Achievable: Use simple tools like social media and a special offer to make it happen.
- Relevant: More clients help grow your practice.
- Time-bound: You’ll achieve this by March 31, 2025.
How to Make It Happen:
- Post on Social Media: Share videos (like the calf technique!) or photos of your work. Include a special offer for new clients, like 10% off their first session.
- Offer a Referral Program: Let your current clients know they can earn a discount or free add-on when they refer a friend.
- Be Consistent: Post 2–3 times a week to keep your services on people’s minds. Share tips, client success stories, or behind-the-scenes looks at your work.
2025 is here! Whether it’s perfecting your calf techniques or bringing in new clients, small, consistent steps will take you far.
What’s one goal you’re excited to work on this month? Hit reply, I’d love to hear about it!
Here’s to a great year,
Joe
